Medical examinations are needed for “adjustment of status” (Form I-485) and requests for “V nonimmigrant status” (Form I-539). The medical examination must be conducted by a medical doctor who has been designated by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) as a Civil Surgeon. Note: You cannot go to your personal doctor to have a medical exam for immigration purposes unless your doctor is a Designated Civil Surgeon.

Below is a summary of what to expect during your Immigration Medical Exam performed by Dr. Hong, Designated Civil Surgeon. For more detailed information, please view the Frequently Asked Question (FAQ) page.

Dr. Hong will perform a basic physical examination including a TB test for anyone who is at least 2 years old and has not had a TB test in the past 90 days. Blood will be taken to perform a syphilis test for all patients who are at least 15 years old.

Dr. Hong and his staff will complete your I-693 form, usually within 2 or 3 days. You will receive the completed form in a sealed envelope, and you will also receive a copy for your records. Dr. Hong has had performed more than ten thousand Immigration Medical Exams, and he has a 99% success rate with I-693 Green Card-based form completion. This means that the USCIS has determined that the form is accurate and it will be submitted for consideration. When a form is inaccurate, the USCIS will return it to the applicant so that all inaccuracies can be fixed.
